McIntosh A-116 mono power amplifier (1953 -1954) | |
Frequency response was 20-30kHz (±0.1dB) and distortion quite low at 0.5%. Two 6BG6/1614 output tubes gave 30 watts continuous power. The original A-116 was replaced by the A-116B in 1954 which was more commonly known as the MC-30. Finished in a gray hammertone chassis, the A116 retailed for $143.50 (Radio Shack, 1955). Today expect to pay at least $500 for a clean but untested example, up to $900 for one in excellent working condition.
