Sold from 1961-1967, the MC-275 was the largest, most powerful of McIntosh's 1960s stereo power amplifiers producing, as the name suggests, 75 watts RMS per channel.

Almost identical in design and appearance to the MC-240, the major difference was the use of four KT88 / 6550 output tubes (the MC-240 used 6L6GC / 7027As). In most other respects, specifications were identical; frequency response was 16-40kHz (+0 -0.1dB) and distortion a low 0.5%.

Costing $444.00 when new, current value is between $1,000 and $3,800 depending on condition, finish and originality.

MC-275 mk IV Commemorative Edition

In 1993 McIntosh reissued the MC275 power amplifier as a 'Commemorative Edition' It was almost identical to its predecessor and utilised four KT88 / 6550 output tubes. Hum and noise was a little lower than the original (-100dB compared to -90dB) and the inputs were updated to gold-plated RCA and balanced XLR connectors. It was also a little bit smaller, a little bit lighter and, at $4,000.00, a heck of a lot more expensive! It is still being made today.
