Vintage test report

The SA-232 was a stereo power amplifier aimed at the tightly-budgeted stereophile. Designed to match Pilot's SP210 preamplifier, its four EL84 output tubes produced 17 watts RMS per channel and 20 watts per channel music power with distortion at 1% (harmonic) and 1.5% (intermodulation).

The 232's output transformers were constructed from grain-oriented steel and interleaved windings for high efficiency.

Priced at $89.50 when new, today clean, working examples fetch between $500-$650.
