Pilot 240 integrated stereo amplifier (1959-1963) | |||
On the rear panel RCA sockets were provided for phono TT, phono RC, FM-AM, multiplex, tape recorder and tape output. There was also a "Simpli-Matic" test panel for output tube balancing, provision for a third centre speaker (hence the "Curtain Of Sound" sobriquet) and an electronic crossover intended for using the stereo channels as a bi-amp mono system. Other features included an automatic power shut-off for use with automatic record changers, Pilot's "Tru-Lock" ganged tone controls and a loudness switch. Price when new was $129.50 (including case). Today, examples in excellent physical and functional condition are worth between $300 - $350, working units in average condition around $160 - $250.
