This popular (in Japan, at any rate) 25 watt per channel tube stereo integrated
amplifier was the little brother to the mighty AU-111
also utilised Sansui's own highly-acclaimed output transformers. As a
result, the performance was way above similar powered solid state contemporaries.
The downside of this is that many of these fine amplifiers have been cannibalized
for their transformers, making intact examples quite hard to find nowadays.
Four 7189 or EL84s were used in the output stages and
harmonic distortion was only 0.15% at 20 watts and 1Kc.
A neat feature of the AU-70 were the two small output
level meters (see photo at right).
Little data is available regarding value, current value
can only be based on being somewhere less than the AU-111, probably in
the $500 - $800 range.
