The 222-D was the final version of the 222 series, first released in 1959. The major difference from its predecessor, the 222-C, was one of styling, the circuit was much the same apart from a few minor service-related improvements. Dual-concentric bass and treble controls had replaced the in dependant channel tone controls of the 222-C, and in their place, two new switches: a power ON/OFF (previously integrated with the loudness control) and a speaker selection switch. At the rear panel were more inputs and a speaker phase switch. The output transformers were also updated from the previous model.

Price when new: $169.95 plus case, today's value is about the same as the 222-C.
