Specifications

The Stereo 'Laboratory' LK-150 amplifier was the only power amplifier kit-set that Scott produced. It was rated at 65 watts per channel (IHFM power) and delivered 58 watts per channel RMS. Equipped with massive (20lbs each) output transformers, a built-in meter which permitted bias adjustment, twin 5AR4 rectifiers and 6550 output tubes (with a 100-watt per pair rating); the LK-150 was a conservatively rated deluxe power amplifier. It was also the first time Scott used 7199 tubes for splitters and split-load inverters.

Power bandwidth was from below 19 cps to above 25,000 cps with hum at -90dB below full rated power and harmonic distortion less than 0.5% at full output. Input sensitivity was switchable from 1.5V to 2.5V, making the unit compatible with any contemporary control unit (Scott naturally advertised it as being perfectly matched to their LC-21 preamplifier kit-set).

Priced new at $169.95 (kit-set) or $269.95 (wired) with ventilated steel cage (not shown in pictures at right), today's value would be in the vicinity of $2,500 for an excellently presented, fully function example.
