Specifications

The ASP-422 was a twenty-watt per channel stereo power amplifier intended for use with S-C's ASE-434 preamplifier. It featured a new type of output tube, the 6DY7, which was a dual beam power pentode and as such, only one per channel was required to achieve push-pull output. As a result the amplifier was relatively cheap yet had enough power to drive most speakers of the day.

A variable gain control for each channel was provided as was 4, 8 and 16 ohm output taps plus provision for a phantom output for a centre channel. Frequency response was a claimed 20 to 50,000 cps with distortion less than 1% at full power.

Priced at $99.95 when new, today's value is around $400-$500 for clean, functioning examples.
