This 35-watt Class "A" monobloc was the first Scott amplifier to use the distinctive cast aluminum end-caps and removable grill (these also featured on the model 280 power amplifier).

Dubbed the "Laboratory Power Amp", the 240 featured dual-level inputs ( 0.5 & 1.5 volts) each with level control, variable damping control and outputs for speakers of between 4 and 24 ohms plus a 70V output tap.

A pair of EL34 (6CA7) tubes were employed in an automatically balanced output circuit, producing 80 watts instantaneous peak and 35 watts continuous at less than 0.5% harmonic distortion and less than 0.1% first-order difference-tone IM distortion.

Priced at $140 when first released (reduced down to $99.95 in Radio Shack's 1957 catalogue; ) today a well-presented original and functioning example could fetch up to $750, more if mint or professionally restored. Matched pairs would attracted slightly higher than double these values.
